The luggage rack for the Savage available from Highway Hawk is a royal pain to put on. If you're going to get this thing be prepared to spend several hours getting it on.
Put your bike up on a rack and remove the rear wheel. Trust me, it's easier this way. I did it without removing the wheel and regreted it he whole time. You're going to have to re-drill the rear mounting hole, it's out of position by about 1/4 inch. Even after that, it's going to be a lot of work putting it on. The side pieces jam against the base of the sissy bar so you really have to work to get the bolts in. Don't be surprised if you break your tailight cover. The rack sits right on top of it and you have to jam it down hard. Also, it's a lot easier if you take the rack apart and put the side pieces in separately.
If I had been able to find another luggage rack for the Savage I would have told Highway Hawk where they could put theirs. I would even have volunteered to help place it there.
Hope you have better luck with this thing than I did. God help me if I ever have to take this thing off.
